This is an exciting season at Ogden Memorial as we look forward to Advent beginning December 2. Advent is a season of anticipation and hope that prepares us for Christmas and the celebration of Jesus’ birth. We hope you will make plans to join us throughout the Advent season at any one of our special services.
Hanging of the Greens, December 2, 10 a.m.
Advent kicks off with our Hanging of the Greens worship. During this service, we will reflect on the meaning of the decorative elements and how they point us to the message of Jesus’ birth and life. Rev. Shannon Blosser will also begin our Advent sermon series “Waiting on Jesus.”
Service of Lessons and Carols, December 16, 10 a.m.
We are looking forward to our music ministry leading us in telling the story of Jesus’ birth through song and readings. Our annual Christmas dinner will take place after worship.
Service of Hope, December 18, 6 p.m.
The Service of Hope is a special worship service for anyone who finds the Christmas season difficult. This year, we are partnering with the Caldwell County Ministerial Association to provide a time of hope for those who find the Advent and Christmas seasons difficult.
Christmas at the Barn, December 24, 3 p.m.
On Christmas Eve, we will host an interactive worship service inside a local barn. The service will be a traditional candlelight Christmas Eve worship with the intent to allow us to imagine what it was like for Mary and Joseph when Jesus was born. The barn is located at 2250 Highway 1272 in Princeton. During the worship service, we will collect a special offering for the Caldwell County Hope and Cope center and Water4, which is an international organization that seeks to provide clean access to water.
